200GB Hitachi Deskstar (losing readability from outer tracks inwards for some time already) -> 320GB Seagate ST3320620A;
CPU cooler (made in 2000; plastic details fell apart at touch) -> fancy new one, all metal, with LEDs and a transparent fan. Not that I like LEDs on coolers, but that was the only one I could get for a PIII.
Gotchas: on the first try, clipped the cooler in place upside down. Somehow, it prevented good contact with the chip resulting in whopping 85° Centigrade CPU temperature when idle. Reclipping it into the right position helped; it's now 38°C idle instead of 40°C with the old one.
Now, that's gonna be tricky. I'm planning a direct move from Sarge to Lenny. No Etch with its broken lilo, thanks a bunch. Anyway, Lenny's gonna get stable one of these days. I know it will.
The catch here is that the system dubs as my main Internet gate. So if aptitude blows its first attempt... Well, I've got my Lenny DVDs prepped and ready but that'll probably result in a much longer downtime.
So help me wget.
